AI quiz builder

Describe the quiz. The assistant drafts it.

Tell the builder what to cover, or give it your notes, and it writes the questions, the correct answers and a grading rubric. Its changes wait on your draft until you save, so nothing reaches students that you haven't checked.

  • Start from a topic, your notes or the files in your course
  • Paste or upload a quiz you already have, from a PDF, Word, text, CSV or JSON file
  • Align it to a standard set, from Common Core and NGSS to your state's
  • Add a picture or a short narrated teaching video to any question

Question types

Short answer first. Every classic format, too.

Every new question starts as a short answer, because students show what they know best when they explain it. Switch any question to a classic format when a quick check fits.

  • Short answerDefault

Students explain in their own words, and AI grades the meaning against your answer and rubric.

  • Multiple choice

Students pick the one right choice. It's scored from your answer key the moment they submit.

  • Multi-select

Students pick every right choice, with partial credit for the ones they get.

  • Fill in the blank

Students type the missing word. Grade it by exact match with the answers you accept, or with AI.

  • Images, audio and video on any question
  • Math in LaTeX, drawn cleanly
  • A picture or video revealed with the grade
  • Up to 100 questions in a quiz

AI grading

Graded for meaning.In seconds.

The grader reads each answer against your correct answer and rubric. A right idea in different words gets credit. A confident answer built on the wrong idea gets caught.

  • Fast grading for most quizzes, Smart grading when answers need careful judging
  • One rubric for the quiz, or a question's own, as text or a table
  • Grade at the end, or each answer as it's submitted, with feedback before the next question
  • Choose what students see: their score, the feedback, the correct answer
  • Change any grade, or turn AI grading off and grade by hand

Integrity

Built to be hard to cheat on.

An explanation in a student's own words is already hard to copy. These settings make the rest of a quiz hold up too, and each one is yours to turn on.

  • Built-in Lockdown extension

Students answer in one full-screen Chrome tab. New tabs close, other extensions must be off, and any time away is counted for you.

  • AI-use check

Each short answer is compared with ChatGPT's answer to the same question. Only you see how likely it was copied, and it never changes the score.

  • Time limits

The clock runs on our server, not in the student's browser. When time is up, their answers are turned in.

  • Paste and time flags

See which answers had text pasted in, and how long each question was on the student's screen.

  • Attempts and access

Limit attempts, invite only the students or courses you choose, and open and close the quiz on your dates.

  • Camera monitoringComing soon

Camera and screen recording with face monitoring, for lockdown quizzes.

Flags are a reason to look closer, not proof. You decide what they mean.

For students

Made for the student taking it.

Students sign in and answer on any device. Their answers are saved as they go, so a reload or a lost connection loses nothing.

  • Read aloud and dictation, to hear a question and speak an answer
  • A scientific calculator, when you turn it on
  • The Student helper: an AI chat beside each question that helps them think, but never gives the answer
  • Answers with files: images, PDFs, spreadsheets and videos
  • Readable fonts, larger text and a choice of layouts

Results

Every answer, score and comment in one place.

See each quiz's responses and each student's progress. Answers that need a second look are counted for you, so you can check them, change a grade and move on.

  • Every response, with each answer's score and feedback
  • Who has opened, started and turned in an assigned quiz
  • Regrade a response after you change a question or the rubric
  • A gradebook for each course, with grading weights

And everything around it

The rest of what a quiz needs.

  • Courses

Keep a class's quizzes, students, files and rubrics together.

  • Co-teachers

Share a course with the teachers you work with.

  • Invites and due dates

Email students a quiz and set when it's due, in your time zone.

  • Quiz defaults

Start every new quiz with the settings you use most.

  • Student preview

Take the quiz as students see it, and skip to any question.

  • Explore

Start from a quiz another teacher shared, or share your own.

  • Student dashboard

Students see what's due first, and review the quizzes they've turned in.

  • Always free formats

Multiple choice, multi-select and exact-match blanks never use credits.

Questions

Good questions, answered.

Is it free?

Yes. Without AI, the platform is entirely free to use in full: quizzes, courses, the gradebook, lockdown, time limits, invites and the rest of what a traditional LMS does. You only pay for AI features. Every new account also gets 7 days of the Teacher plan, with no card. After that you keep 500 free AI credits a month, and buy more only when you need them.

How many credits does grading take?

A Fast-graded answer takes 1 credits and a Smart-graded one 25. A class of 30 answering 5 written questions takes 150. Questions graded from your answer key take none.

Can I grade answers myself?

Yes. You can change any grade the AI gives, or turn AI grading off for a quiz. Its written answers then wait for you on the Results page.

Do students see the rubric or the answer key?

Never the rubric. After grading, students see only what you allow: their score, the feedback and the correct answer.

Do students need an account?

Students sign in to answer, so their work is saved and you know who answered. They never pay, and never see plans or prices.

Can I bring in a quiz I already have?

Yes. Paste it in, or upload a PDF, Word, text, CSV or JSON file. The builder pulls out the questions for you to check before they go on your draft.

Which browsers does Lockdown work in?

Lockdown is a Chrome extension, so a lockdown quiz is taken in Chrome, on a Chromebook, Windows or Mac. Every other quiz works in any modern browser, phones included.
