What comes over
Canvas AI reads the course you name and copies what LMSystems can hold, in one go. Ask for all of it, or only the parts you want.
Its name, dates and time zone. The syllabus goes in the course's Files, where the quiz builder can read it.
The students on the Canvas roster are added by email, and each gets an invite to the new course.
Questions come over with their answer keys, in their Canvas order. Canvas AI converts the ones LMSystems has no type for.
An essay or upload assignment becomes a quiz, with questions Canvas AI writes from its instructions and rubric.
Readings, slides and handouts are copied into the course's Files and labeled, ready for the quiz builder.
Assignment groups become the gradebook's groups, weighted as in Canvas, and each quiz keeps its group and due date.
Questions
Multiple choice, true/false, multiple answers and one-blank fill in the blank map straight across. For the rest, like matching or numerical questions, Canvas AI writes the closest LMSystems question.
You check first
Every copied quiz is a draft. When the copy is done, Canvas AI asks which quizzes to publish and which settings to change, and does only what you pick.
Sync
Ask Canvas AI on the course's Canvas page, and it brings over what's new or changed in Canvas since your copy. Canvas wins, except for a quiz your students have answered.
Questions
In Settings, or on the Import from Canvas page. Sign in with Canvas if your school is set up for it, or paste an access token you make in your Canvas account settings. LMSystems keeps it sealed, and you can disconnect it any time.
No. Canvas AI uses no credits, on every plan. The copied quizzes are graded like any other: questions with an answer key never use credits, and AI-graded written answers do.
No. Canvas AI only reads your Canvas courses, so you can keep teaching there while you move over.
New Quizzes, because Canvas doesn't share their questions through its API yet. Also discussions, pages, ungraded assignments and work done in an outside tool, like a publisher's site. Rules that drop the lowest scores in a group don't come over either: LMSystems counts every score. Canvas AI tells you what it skipped and why.
Yes. Each student Canvas AI adds gets an invite to the new course. It's the one email Canvas AI sends. A student without an account gets one the first time they sign in.
Yes. Ask for only the quizzes, only the students, or the assignments you name. Canvas AI copies one course at a time.
Like any quiz. Multiple choice, multi-select and exact-match blanks are scored from their answer key. Written answers are AI graded for meaning, or you grade them yourself with AI grading off.
